This Aries essence is about the independent spark of creativity that pushes through the sea of all possibility into energetic form. This is life making itself known. In contrast to its opposite sign, Libra, which has a very “we” aspect to it, Aries is about “me”... sovereignty in its purest sense. It takes this holding of one’s self to become, for if one is too oriented to the other, one forgets one’s self and there is no sure movement forward, no internal locus of control that brings forth one’s unique expression. Think of baby, green shoots pushing up through the earth with a “look at me!” energy.
But this Aries essence is not about pure independence, it uses its hope, courage and individuation in service and connection to the primal source that wishes to speak through all things. Aries’ opposition to Libra brings a sense that the expression of soul truth and individuality is always done in relation to the world around us. Baby shoots pull nutrients from the earth surrounding them and energy from the sun warming them in order to grow. But they also have a defined sense of self, of soul expression.
This is sovereignty and relationality, finding strength and passion to express one’s self and at the same time needing to be in relationship with others to unfold into your true expression. This doesn’t mean you need the world to “get” or affirm you, Aries expresses itself regardless of the reception or recognition it receives, but it is more about realizing that the creative force that drives you is not self-generated, it is created in relationship with the world that surrounds you.
